Payment of Hot Lunch Policy

Greetings Families,

We wanted to inform you about our Payment of Hot Lunch policy.  Montpelier school has a policy that mandates parents/guardians prepay for their children’s food.  This means that every account needs to have a positive balance.  The beginning of a new school year is a perfect time to start accounts in a positive direction.

The school’s hot lunch account has experienced increases in costs and is not solvent without the help from our school’s general fund.  Please make sure that you pay for your child’s food in advance.

We will not deny any student the ability to eat school lunch, but their options will be limited.  They will always be able to have an entree with salad bar.  However, 2nd servings on entrees will be denied.  2nd servings are not qualified under the federal fee and reduced school lunch program and every student account will be charged $1 for an additional entree.

If you have any questions about this policy please let me know.  Our policy can be found here: http://www.montpelier.k12.nd.us/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Payment-of-Hot-Lunch-Accounts.pdf

Thank you!!

Each fall we renew our curriculums and get necessary supplies for the upcoming school year.  As part of that process, we were supposed to get our English Language Arts Curriculum (ELA) for grades K-5 delivered by August 20.  Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and we were forced to begin the school year without the necessary materials.  As you can imagine that is not a very good way to start out the school year.

Thankfully, we had a great local public school that was willing to help us in our hour of need.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Litchville-Marion Public School for donating their ELA curriculum so our students can have the opportunity to learn.

We are confident that there are many public schools that would have answered our call, but so thankful that Litchville-Marion did and want to make sure that their acts were known publicly.

Thank you Litchville-Marion Public School!

Staff PD

Our elementary and high school staff have been hard at work diving into BARR training and we are excited for what this means for our students!

BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) began in 1999 when educator Angela Jerabek saw a better way to help every student thrive.  BARR helps by building strong relationships, focusing on strengths, and using data to give the right support at the right time.  Since then, it’s spread across the country, helping schools boost academic success and student confidence.

This year, BARR will be part of our daily routines.  Our school staff are learning fresh strategies to connect with each child, foster a positive classroom environment, and make sure every student knows they belong here.  We can’t wait to see the amazing things our Martins will accomplish!

Go Martins!
