School Board Election
Montpelier Public School District
On Tuesday, the 9th of June 2026, the annual election of Montpelier Public School District No. 14, County of Stutsman, State of North Dakota, will be held for the purpose of determining the following:
- ELECTION OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS TO FILL ANY EXPIRED TERMS
- Two persons for At-Large School Board Member, three-year terms.
- Scott Harms
- Kyle Throener
- Scott Harms
- Two persons for At-Large School Board Member, three-year terms.
- VOTE ON THE REQUIRED, BIENNIAL PROPOSITION QUESTION OF PUBLISHING MINUTES IN OFFICIAL PAPER
Every two years, or until disapproved at a succeeding election, school districts are required by North Dakota Century Code to give voters the opportunity to determine if the proceedings of the school board are to be published in the official newspaper of the district. NDCC 15.1-09-31
- A yes vote is a vote for having the school board minutes published in the official newspaper of the school district. The estimated annual cost to the district for publication in the newspaper is $2,000.
- A no vote is a vote against having the school board minutes published in the official newspaper of the school district.
The district will continue to publish the minutes on the school website regardless of the results of this measure.
- SPECIAL ELECTION MEASURE 1
Shall the size of the Montpelier Public School Board be decreased from 7 members to 5 members, beginning with the 2027 election?
- If the measure passes, the change would be implemented in accordance with NDCC 15.1-09.01.6: “If the qualified electors of a district approve a reduction in the size of the school board, the excess number of members will serve out existing terms until the number approved by the electors has been reached.”
- A yes vote is a vote for decreasing the board size from seven to five members. Reductions would begin with the 2027 election.
- A no vote is a vote against reducing the board size from seven to five members.
Polls will be open from 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. located at Montpelier Public School, 214 7th Ave, Montpelier, ND.

Qualified Voter Criteria:
1) Must be a U.S. citizen,
2) 18 years of age or older, and
3) Primary residence in the Montpelier School District for 30 days or more
